Dr. Clarke, associate professor and former chair of the Department of Marketing at Boston University's School of Management, is one of the leading experts in the field of health care marketing. She is the 1995 recipient of the American Marketing Association's prestigious Philip Kotler Award for Excellence in Healthcare Marketing. She received the 1985 Health Care Marketer of the Year Award from the American College of Health Care Marketing. She also was awarded the Broderick Prize for Excellence in Teaching from the Boston University School of Management. Currently she is conducting research on the effect of customer defection on health care cost and quality. Professor Clarke is the Faculty Director of the Boston University Biotechnology Association. She received her MBA and Doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. She is the past president of the Society for Health Care Planning and Marketing, a professional organization with approximately 4,000 members affiliated with the American Hospital Association. Professor Clarke serves on the Board of the New England Organ Bank, one of the country's federally designated organ procurement organizations. With Philip Kotler, she wrote Marketing for Health Care Organizations, one of the leading texts in the field of health care marketing.
